What I would like to know about Islam and the Muslim religion is why the religion was originated around the teaching of Muhammad? I would also like to know more about the Qur'an and what the main messages in that religious book are. Also when the empire started and if there was a single emperor, ruler, or sole person in charge, how they were chosen, and how regularly they were taken out of, or left the power of being in charge.

I know that Islam is one of the three major monotheistic religions in the world, along with Christianity and Judaism. Their god is known as allah, and their place of worship is in mosques. Islam is the primary religion in the middle-east, and the most populous region of Islam is in Indonesia.

I'd like to know how Islam affects daily routine and life, because I know it has strict praying times. I'd also like to know if it has influenced any empires, or if any empires have endorsed it (like Christianity and Rome).

Right now I know nothing about Islam.

What I want to know:

- Where was Islam started?
- Was there a specific ruler that made Islam a predominant religion?
- What does the Islamic religion believe in? (God/s, beliefs, right and wrong)
- I would also like to learn more about Muhammad.
- What brought the civilization that Islam was created in into existence?
- Why is Islam important?
- Why do they all were turbines?

I do not know much about Islam, so I looked online.

I found out that it is a monotheistic religious. Islamics follow under the teachings of Muhammad. "Islam" translates to mean "total surrender to God". They refer to their god as Allah. Islam is the second largest religion after Christianity.
Islams believe Allah gave Muhammad the Qur'an, (their religious text). Muhammad is not known as the founder of Islam, but as the restorer of the original faith of Abraham, Moses, and Jesus.

I don't really know that much about Islam. I know some basics, like that it's one of the major religions. I know that it ties to other religions and that it is a monotheistic relgion and has to do with Muhammad. There are two types of Muslims, the Sunni and Shia. They call their god Ali. I don't know much about the relgion itself, or the people of the relgion. I would like to know more about the religion and the people and potentally the architecture that reflects the religion

I honestly don't know anything about Islam, but i would really like to find out more about it becuase i constantly here something about it in the news. After researching it I learned that the religion was created by Muhammad and that the religion has broken up into two groups; shiat and the suni.

I would like to look into more detail about these two groups and also find out more about the religion in general.

What do I know about Islam: I know there are two branches of Islam, Shia Islam where they followed decedents of Mohamed, and Sunni is the other Branch. There is also a Orthodox branch under Sunni Islam called Wahabism, this is practiced in Saudi Arabia. There version of the bible is called the Koran. There is a journey called the Hajj that ever Muslim is supposed to make, it involved traveling to the holy city of Mecca. It is important to understand Islam because of its impact on global politics, some counties in the middle east use Islamic laws to govern and set rules for their people. An example of one of these Islamist Theocracy is Saudi Arabia. Some terrorist Organizations follow Islamic fundamentalism. Islamic fundamentalism meaning the strictest following of the rules of Islam. An example of one of these would be Islamic Gihad.

Islam means submission. Islam is one of the three major monotheistic religions of the world. It is the 2nd largest religion in the world. Followers of Islam (Muslims) follow the preachings of the prophet Muhammed, who had revelations from God (Allah). The revelations are recorded in the Qur'an, the religious text that Muslims follow. Islam is predominant in the middle east and Africa and some places in Asia. There are two divisions of Islam: Sunni and Shi'a. Islam is 85% Sunni and 15% Shi'a. Muslims belive in predestination. There is a day of judgement. Muslims believe in the old Testament and the Gospels, but think that there is some distortion to that. There are 5 practices or "pillars" that Sunni Muslims abide by, but there are eight that the Shi'a observe, yet they are much like the 5. Jihad is the struggle or strive. Muslims worship in Mosques. The dome of the Rock in Jerusalem contains a rock where Muhammed was, I don't remember what he did on the rock. There is something called a caliph, but i don't really know what that is. There are two religious destinations for Muslims: Mecca and Medina. Women wear a Hijab, or head scarf. Ramadan is the 9th month of the islamic calendar, which the Qur'an was written. Muslims celebrate Ramadan by fasting from sun up to sun down and ending the month with a large feast.

I would like to know the difference in the beliefs of the Sunni and Muslims. Why did the schism occur? Was it like Christianity and the Protestant movement?

I really don't know anything about Islam other than they use the Qur'an as their bible of sorts. So after looking the religion up I learned the basics of the religion. It is a montheistic religion starting with Muhammad. they are required to follow the 5 Pillars of Islam which are duties they must be done by Muslims. Since I don't know very much about the religion I am not sure what I want to know. But I think I would like to know more about the 5 Pillars and their specifics

Islam is one of the world's three major monotheistic religions- their god is known as Allah, and the book of worship is the Koran. Islam was founded by the Prophet Muhammad, who was born in Mecca. The pilgrimage to Mecca is called Hajj, and every Muslim tries to take this pilgrimage once in their life. Islam has two main groups- Sunnis and Shias. Shias have a high priest, while Sunnis do not. Both of them regard Ali, the Prophet's son-in-law, differently. An important Muslim festival is Eid-ul-Fitr, which occurs after the 30-day fast of Ramadan. Jesus is also believed to be one of Islam's earlier prophets, and their are some similarities to Christianity.

What I would like to learn more about:
- Ali
- The difference between Sunis and Shias

THIS IS FROM NICOLE

I do not know much about Islam. By doing a quick Google search I found that,an adherent of Islam is known as a Muslim. Muslim means "on who submits (to god)". Also, the God they worship is Allah. Muslims are generally required to observe the Five Pillars of Islam. The Five Pillars of Islam are five duties that unite Muslims into a community. The basis for Islamic doctrine is found in the Qur'an. Muslims believe the Qur'an is the word of God, spoken by the angel Gabriel to Muhammad. The six articles of faith are the main doctrines of Islam. Muslims share beliefs in Allah, Angels, Scripture, Prophets, Afterlife, and Divine Creed.

I would like to learn more about Allah, Muhammad, and the Islam religion. I would also like to learn about their customs and way of life.

THIS IS FROM DANIELLE

I know that Islam has become a controversial religion in the recent past. The women wear head scarfs and in some cases cannot show their hair or show anything except for their eyes. People who follow the religion pray 5 times a day and cannot wear shoes in the Mosque. I also know that Muhammad Ali converted to this religion and changed his name to...Muhammad Ali. I really don't know anymore than that so I did a quick google search on Islam and learned that a prayer is known as a salah. It is based off of the teachings of Muhammad. It is the second largest religion in the world; after Christianty. It is believed that God revealed the Qur'an to Muhummad. The words and deeds of Muhammad are known as the Sunnah. Also the five Five Pillars of Islam are five duties that bring Muslims into a community. I would like to learn about why the women must wear head scarfs everywhere. I would also like to learn about the role of Islam in Morocco and the world as a whole.
