I am wondering if these mesas got any snow. Also I thought it was cool that there was such a big house up there!

I was trying to find out what life was like in Mea Verde and Chaco in present-day beyond the tourist attractions. I was unable to answer that question, but I did find this site about Chaco National Park. It has useful images and explains what can be found there today, such as the collared lizard. This Britannica article is about the Mesa Verde National Park. It has an article, and it also has images and a video.

When I thought about the ruins of Mesa Verde I thought they wouldn't be as extensive as they were. Here is a site with a few pictures. I also was wondering if there were any other cultures as advanced as the "Ancestral Puebloans". Did they interact with the Puebloans or where the Puebloans off on their own? Did leave any ruins or evidence?

Since I am doing Mesa Verde for my Wiki, I wanted to find more information about Chaco. I was interested in the ruins of Pueblo Bonito and I found
this website that has information about it. I also found
this picture of it. I also found
this map of where Chaco Canyon is.

I was wondering where "modern Puebolans" might live. The section about kivas also mentions that spiritual ceremonies could be held there. What would these ceremonies be like. Finally, since there are no towns in and around Chaco, how did people find out about it in order to tour it and stargaze for astronomical purposes?

I wanted to know more about Cliff Palace at Mesa Verde. I found an amazing picture of the dwellings with the ladders and windows and everything. I also found a floor plan of the Anastazi for the Palace. From this Wikipedia Article, I found that one kiva in the palace in the center of the structure is painted one color on one side and one on the other; archaeologists think that this kiva was used to integrate 2 possible communities that inhabited the Cliff Palace.

I found this reading really interesting (but maybe that's bias on my part because it's the Seattle Times). One thing that interested me was the mention of explorer Richard Wetherill, who excavated Cliff Palace and was later murdered at Chaco. Since murders are always interesting, this website gave more details surrounding his death (and plenty about his life, if you go to the home page).

When I was in New Mexico I visited the Pueblos. Something I found that was interesting was that the Anasazi might have participated in cannibalism. Evidence of this comes from an excavation near Dolores. 24 human remains showing violence and dismemberment.

I wanted to know more about the Chaco canyon. I found this site that gives a lot of information about the canyon a long time ago, and also more recently. Also, this is a site that gives some information about the canyons, but its more about the general backgroud of Chaco. On that site, it mentioned something about turquoise jewelry. I looked it up, and found this site, which makes turquoise sound like it was similar to gold.

I am doing Chaco Canyon for my Wiki contribution. This site (http://www.nps.gov/chcu/photosmultimedia/photogallery.htm) has a lot of great pictures of the area.

On other pages on the site (at the bottom)there are interesting facts about the history and the nature at Chaco Canyon.

I was wondering what Cliff Palace looks like. Here is some pictures that show what it looks like. One question I have is wouldnt Cliff Palace be in danger because of erosion, rocksldes, and other weather related things?

On the note of Pueblo Bonito (meaning pretty village if my Spanish knowledge is correct), well... I wanted to know what it looked like.
This picture gave me the best idea. It really helped to have the picture that showed the different levels of elevation, because the aerial pictures didn't make it look nearly as impressive.

I also thought this picture gave me a good idea of how isolated the ruins are. It was stated in the reading, and now I see how isolated it really is (no civilization in sight).

I was looking at some pictures when I searched puebloans, and I came across one that had a picture of the Cliff Palace at Mesa Verde. here is a picture of the entire palace and then here are some more detailed pictures. Also I found this video. It is only partial, but it shows some good shots and has some good information.

I thought that it was interesting on how it was difficult to get to both Chaco and Mesa Verde. I was wondering why it would be hard to get to both of these places, so I searched the internet for some pictures about what the paths were, and I found This Picture of Mesa Verde, and This Path to Mesa Verde. I found This Path to Chaco. Now I understand why it was so hard to get to these places.
